This is our entry level new five speed manual transmission for Chevrolet V8.  This package consists of the bare essential to put a new Tremec T5 behind a Chevrolet V8 making up to 300hp and is made possible by the use of one of our unique bellhousings.  The components in this package assume that customers may already have some of the parts, but if not, we can supply a complete T5 package with all components ready for assembly behind your engine.

The Tremec T5 transmission is our entry level 5 speed transmission, but this compact transmission is still capable of handling 300 lb-ft of torque, making it the ideal choice for stock or mild tuned engines of over 300hp.  This transmission is a more compact unit than the Tremec TKO and so will fit in the standard transmission tunnel of many cars without modification.

The Tremec T5 is a durable transmission with easy operation and a deep overdrive – making it ideal for hot rods, street rods, kit cars and 1960’s Mustang upgrades.

This transmission package consists of the basic components to put the Tremec T5 behind a Small Block Chevrolet engine.  There are a number of components that may either need to be purchased to complete this kit (some of which the customer may have).  This package uses one of our bellhousings made to fit to a new Tremec T5 and can use either 153 or 168T flywheels.  Customers will need to choose which of our three clutch operation systems to use (not included in this package but available at extra cost):

Cable operation – this will require purchasing the clutch fork, pivot ball and release bearing.  Customer will need to have their own cable made,

External Hydraulic – uses the components in the cable operation above, together with our own bolt on slave cylinder.

Concentric Internal Slave – this unit bolts to the front of the transmission and so is the most compact.

 

This package of parts consists of a new Tremec T5 and:

New one piece CNC machined aluminium bellhousing
New roller spigot bearing
New dust cover for bellhousing
All bolts for attachment of gearbox and bellhousing

The following parts are also required to complete the package

Flywheel – can use 168 or 153T
Clutch cover to suit flywheel
Clutch disc – a new disc will be required to suit the Tremec T5 (we need to know the diameter of clutch you are using)
Transmission mount
Clutch release mechanism – choice of three available
Flywheel bolts
Clutch cover bolts
Customers with higher horsepower engines may wish to upgrade to billet flywheel and up-rated clutch.  The Tremec TKX package is also available for higher output engines or for customers preferring the choice of ratios available in the Tremec TKX.
